Phu Quoc is also known as Vietnam Pearl Island, the largest island of our country in the Gulf of Thailand. Every year, it welcomes millions of domestic and foreign tourists by its pristine beauty, charm, and very beautiful hotels. However, not everyone has experience in Phu Quoc tourism, shopping,… I will share you with some useful tips in this Phu Quoc Island Travel Guide.
Phu Quoc Island Travel Guide – How to get there
Travel by airplane
Based on my past experiences, travelling by air is the most convenient way to get there. The Phu Quoc international airport has been completed and officially put into operation in December 2012.
Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Jetstar airlines are the biggest airlines in our country all operating routes to the Phu Quoc Island. Phu Quoc is one of the potential tourism places that always attracts a lot of domestic and foreign visitors.
Flight routes: Ho Chi Minh City – Phu Quoc, Hanoi – Phu Quoc, Can Tho – Phu Quoc.
All of these routes have daily flights, which provide tourists more choices. It will take about 20 minutes from the airport to the center of Duong Dong town by taxi.
In Phu Quoc, there are 2 biggest taxi companies, namely Mai Linh and SASCO, which are both safe and convenient for tourists to travel.
Travel by road/sea
Currently, there are two main routes for you to choose: HCM – Rach Gia – Phu Quoc, HCM – Ha Tien – Phu Quoc. However, if traveling from HCM to Rach Gia or Ha Tien by car, visitors still have to catch another high-speed train to reach Phu Quoc island.
Traveling by road and by sea will save you a lot of money, although it is somewhat inconvenient in moving.
Things to do
For those who do not have experience in Phu Quoc Island, I would like to recommend some places to visit in Phu Quoc Island:
Immersing yourself in the cool water at Suoi Tranh
Suoi Tranh in Duong To Commune, Phu Quoc is an ideal camping site for young people. It is an ideal picnic place where you can camp with space close to nature, plants, flowers, and trees. While camping, tourists can watch the murmuring stream weaving through the rocks. Surrounded by birds chirping, the scenery is so rustic. To reach the headwaters, you must climb through rather slippery and steep cliffs. The best time to see the beautiful scenery is the rainy season. This is when the stream is strong, the water is rushing and the scenery is more majestic.
Exploring mysterious bat cave – Phu Quoc
For those who love to learn about the cave, Bat Cave is an ideal destination when traveling to Phu Quoc. People have the opportunity to witness the Bats in the daytime hanging themselves upside down on the cave wall and sleep. When going on a picnic in Suoi Tranh, you should go to Bat cave as they are very close to each other.
Visiting Historical vestige – Phu Quoc Prison
The remnants of a land stained with the history of heroes, where communist soldiers were confined. The wartime is over, but that traumatic remains. Only when we come here, we can well understand that our freedom is paid with blood and tears of ancestors. Prison is the hell on earth that revolutionary soldiers have to face.

In addition, at this place people can also see the aquaculture, pearl farming, and pearl processing areas of Phu Quoc island district.
